Marble dust, mirror, natural light

Installation using mirrors from throughout the College

Trinity College, Cambridge

 A woman either as a passing reflection or as a portrait preserved in paint had been scarce in the College.  Yet throughout its five hundred year history, the lives and influence of women have consistently made their mark.  In this work, I brought together mirrors and frames, property of the College, to consider this visual hiatus.  Representations of College members – the portraits, plaques and statues that fill every space – leave you wondering, where are the women?

I am silver and exact. I have no preconceptions.

Whatever I see I swallow immediately

Just as it is, unmisted by love or dislike.
